Italian design studio “Baldanzi & Novelli dizaineri” has been established for the NORTH CAPE chair series company Narbutas. It was one of the first joint projects of the manufacturer and designers. The aim of this project was to create a chair with an outstanding identity that combines Italian and Scandinavian style. The first chair sketches were made in the Tuscan region of Italy, when the mountainous landscape was illuminated by severe winter weather. Winter is a season when two remote regions – Italy and the Scandinavian countries – become similar. These sketches revealed a common feature of the two cultures, which is minimalism.

THE BEAUTY OF DESIGN HIDES in simplicity

According to designer Adriano Baldanzi, the minimalist shape of the NORTH CAPE chairs is reminiscent of the peacefully sleeping Tuscan mountains in winter, and its design idea is as rational as people from the northern regions. The design of the NORTH CAPE is simple, but at the same time it is made of firm lines and gentle curves. Rectangular armrests made of polyurethane fit harmoniously into the backrest. The unique, laconic curve of the backrest, which continues to the seat, creates a delicate silhouette of the chair, which has already become its identity.

Due to their laconic design, NORTH CAPE chairs are perfectly compatible with various work and conference tables. Depending on the chosen chair variant, materials and colors, this office chair can be expressive and eye-catching, or minimalist, easily merging with the existing office interior. The chair has a choice of two types of armrests. Both of these armrests are designed specifically for the NORTH CAPE chair series. Rectangular armrests made of polyurethane create coziness, while plastic armrests give the chair a more open and minimalist look. It is also possible to choose the type of base – polished aluminum or plastic.

ADJUSTMENT FUNCTIONS:

• Tilt adjustment mechanism with central axis. The backrest and the seat part are connected together. When you lean back, the whole chair bends. The tilt mechanism allows you to change the position of the chair with minimal effort. The function of the tilt mechanism is to return to the initial position and four locking positions.
• Resistance adjustment. This feature allows you to control how easily the chair tilts, depending on your weight and the force used to tilt back.
