THE CHAIR MANUFACTURER LD SEATING WAS RECEIVED CERTIFICATES OF SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION

We are glad that in the furniture production process, the question of the impact of production on nature and the sustainability of our planet is becoming more and more relevant. The environmental issue has become one of the most important issues on the agenda of every manufacturing company. Both the production process and the materials used in production are equally important. Producers’ efforts and nature-friendly actions are evaluated accordingly with certificates of conformity, which allow consumers to be sure of the nature-friendly origin and materials of the specific producer or its products. We are glad that our long-term manufacturer and cooperation partner LD Seating has obtained two important sustainable production certificates at the end of last year – the EMAS certificate developed by the European Commission and the Forest Stewardship Council® certificate for the use of environmentally friendly wood in production.

Sustainable production – EMAS certificate

EMAS stands for Eco Management and Audit Scheme and is based on ISO 14001. The certificate can be obtained by companies that are environmentally friendly and reduce the negative impact of their activities on the environment and comply with the regulations specified in the certification. In practice, this means that the manufacturer carefully records all waste generated during production, controls the consumption of electricity, water and other resources and additionally complies with other requirements included in the standard. Even more creative solutions are being sought for the successful processing of waste generated during furniture production or its use in other products. As one of the great examples, there is the product offered by the manufacturer – BLOCK – these are soft and bright play blocks for children, made from fabric leftovers during production. Such blocks serve as a game element both at home and in the children’s play area in the office. From smaller fabric leftovers, the manufacturer has successfully sewn various bags and wallets, and uses them as gifts for its cooperation partners and customers all over the world.

Forest Stewardship Council® – FSC certificate

Last year, the manufacturer set several goals regarding the sustainability of production. One of them was the maximum possible environmentally friendly use of wood resources and obtaining the FSC® certificate. We are happy, because this goal of the manufacturer resulted in success at the end of last year. The Forest Stewardship Council® is a global non-profit organization that promotes responsible forest management and helps owners take care of their forests. The organization advocates the cultivation of forests of different tree species, taking into account the water regime and biological diversity, and opposes illegal logging and harvesting of wood from areas that have been artificially modified. One of the manufacturer’s unique products, which uses FSC-certified wood, is the TRIVI series of furniture that can be easily integrated into meeting, dining and other areas.
