Multifunctional Office Design for a Creative Workplace: The Xpate Project

For the Xpate project, THOMSON Furniture helped create a flexible, attractive and functional workplace. The office is designed as a carefully planned ecosystem of spaces, where furniture is the main tool that brings people together.

Zoning and Flexibility: Furniture as the Basis of the Workplace

The Xpate office is divided into several functional zones. Thanks to a thoughtful choice of furniture, each zone is easy to reconfigure to suit the rhythm of the day. The color palette and high-quality materials work in harmony, creating an inspiring atmosphere for creative work while keeping efficiency high.

Pedrali Design Icons for Comfort and Style

In the lounge and informal meeting areas, the focus is on comfort and outstanding design.

• Pedrali Buddy collection: These modular upholstered pieces stand out with wide, soft seats and distinctive backrests. Buddy sofas and lounge chairs offer excellent ergonomics and adapt easily to different layouts.

• A variety of design chairs: To give each area its own character, the lounges feature a mix of design chairs from Pedrali: Jamaica, Babila, Nym, Osaka and Feel.

• Historical inspiration: A special highlight is the Jamaica chair collection, inspired by a legendary 20th-century gathering place for Milan’s intellectuals. The design artfully combines warm plywood with an industrial steel tube backrest ($\varnothing16\text{ mm}$).

Functional Meeting Rooms and Innovative Materials

The furnishings in meeting rooms and gathering areas directly affect how quickly decisions are made and how well a team works together. In the Xpate project, Jamaica chairs were also used in the meeting rooms, creating a consistent design language throughout the office.

For the meeting tables, we chose the clean-lined Pedrali Ikon tables with a central base. Their tops are made of the innovative Fenix material, which is especially well suited to heavy commercial use:

• It does not show fingerprints.

• The surface is very easy to clean and hygienic.

• The matte finish prevents glare and reduces eye strain.

Ergonomics and Hybrid Work Trends in the Work Areas

Modern office furniture should not dictate how people sit. It has to adapt to the user. To encourage movement and reduce the negative effects of sitting all day, the work areas are equipped with high-height solutions.

Lighting That Sets the Mood and Supports Productivity

Well-planned lighting is a key part of any workplace, affecting both productivity and the visual depth of the space.

The centerpiece of the Xpate office is the monumental Pedrali Time Out lamp, which also works as an art object. For a mobile, flexible work environment, rechargeable Giravolta LED lamps are a perfect fit. These small but practical light sources are easy for employees to move wherever they need them.
